If any of you saw this episode of Jersey Shore, you would have been as horrified as I am. Here is the Situation, leading the Jersey Shore family in saying grace at the dinner table. Are you kidding me? Is Mike actually trying to provide us with the general impression that he’s religious?! There might have been a slight chance I would have believed him, yet ten minutes later he was hooking up with a transvestite in a club. Real classy and Christian of you, Mike.

The Situation Redefines Fashion in another Offensive Way

Spotted! The Situation leaves the hairdresser sporting a lovely new hairdo containing a cross. Thank you Mike, because we all know that you’re a deeply religious individual and that you simply want to prove to the outside world how faithful you are. Sadly, we all know that you’re only trying to use the cross hairdo to even further your Italian American “Guido” stereotype.Mike views the cross as not a religious symbol, but an aspect of the culture he's trying to promote. To him, the cross is only a fashion statement.

The Situation Doing Somthing Innapropriate Once Again

Oh, there are so many things I adore about this picture. The fact that Mike already has the audacity to show off his abs to women in the club is bad enough, yet what truly tops it off is that lovely rosary he’s sporting. First of all, a rosary is NOT supposed to be worn as a necklace, it’s to be used to pray with. Not only is he wearing this religious item in a nightclub, but a woman’s hand is blatantly working around his rosary to worship his abs. Real classy. It’s as if he wants to prove to others that he actually is Catholic, yet is oblivious to how truly offensive this image is to those who are Catholic. The rosary is more like a prop, used to fulfill his role of an ideal Italian American.

Pauly D keeps it Klassy

Here’s a glorious photo of our beloved Pauly D doing what he does best: trying to follow Italian American stereotypes as much as he physically can. His perfectly coiffed hair, diamond earring, ideal tan, rosary, and flexed bicep with a cross are just a bit too much. What’s he trying to prove to us with the tattoo, that deep down he’s a very religious Catholic who views his religion as more important than everything else? Is he oblivious to the background behind him, which just so happens to be the Jersey Shore, a location synonymous with cheap and sleazy partying?

The paradox Pauly D has created is so evident it’s hilarious.  Pauly D tries to show us that his religion is above all other aspects in his life. Yet sadly, with the number of girls our beloved Guido went through per evening in season one, it just can’t be the case. Pauly D doesn’t act at all religious; he just tries to give off the appearance that he's religious so that he could be the ideal Italian American. It’s as if he’s trying to show that religion is at the top of his hierarchy of what matters most to him, when that isn't at all the case. Ironically, what's most important to Pauly D is his Italian American culture, and in order to fit into that culture, he needs to show how strongly he values his religion. He is completely reversing this hierarchy that he’s trying to exude.
